1983. President, Sphinx Club. From Cincinnati. Resides in Louisville. Married in 1984 to Laura S. Renz. Children: Meredith Catherine, 6-26- 92, Griffin Andrew, 5-24-95. "After graduating from Wabash College in 1983, Laura and I got married and I went to medical school at Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, OH. I graduated in 1988 and then did my pediatric residency at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. Our three years there were busy but exciting and a new challenge for us being away from all family and friends.
"In July 1991, I joined East Louisville Pediatrics in Louisville, KY. I am a partner in this practice today which has grown to 7 pediatricians, 3 pediatric nurse practitioners, and 2 offices. While in Louisville, we were blessed with a daughter, Meredith, and a son, Griffin. We are happy, content and busy shuffling activities between work, school, church, sports, and other activities.
"In 1995, I was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and have recently gone through a successful chemotherapy regimen. I am feeling better than I have in years and while I am in only a partial remission, I face each day and each moment with my family and friends with renewed thanks and gratitude. Life truly is too short to be bothered by petty inconveniences.I thank God every day for all my good fortune and credit Him for all my successes. I also wouldn't be here if it weren't for Wabash College, my Beta brothers, and especially the class of 1983, arguably one of the finest all-around classes in Tau history. I hope that this finds all of you happy, healthy, and prosperous. If you are ever in town, feel free to give us a ring. All my best to you and your families."
Andrew C. Renz, MD, 42, of Louisville, died Friday, January 16, 2004, surrounded by those who loved him. A native of Cincinnati, OH, Dr. Renz was a graduate of Wabash College and Wright State University School of Medicine. He was a partner with East Louisville Pediatrics, where he began practicing medicine in 1991. Dr. Renz served as a board member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and actively supported the Light the Night Walk since its inception. He was an elder at Harvey Browne Memorial Presbyterian Church. He dedicated his life to helping others of all ages and was dearly loved in his community. Dr. Renz was passionate for reading, music, golf and, most of all, his family. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Laura Shaffer Renz; his daughter, Meredith Catherine Renz; his son, Griffin Andrew Renz; his parents, William and Carolin Renz of Cincinnati; his brother, Dr. William Renz of Cincinnati; and his sister, Cynthia Dotzauer of Seattle, WA. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2004, at Harvey Browne Memorial Presbyterian Church, 311 Browns Lane. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, January 20, 2004, at Pearson-Ratterman Bros. Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Rd. Expression of sympathy may be made to the Louisville Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or to Harvey Browne Memorial Presbyterian Church. Published in The Courier-Journal on 1/18/2004.

"His new position will require Dr. Koenig to oversee the activities of approximately 120 medical students, including their student housing and funds for research projects; offer academic guidance as they move through the medical school curriculum and investigate the specialties for their medical residencies; serve as a liaison between the medical students and administration, as well as disciplinarian; assist them with any health problems; participate in planning both student orientation and commencement. His final job for the members of each medical class is to compose for every graduate a Dean’s Letter that accompanies his or her medical residency applications.
"His undergraduate record at Wabash predicted Koenig’s later success. A biology major, he was graduated first in his class, with distinction in comps, the Butler Prize, and highest honors.
